Cooking Tips

All Mankee Dim Sim products are produced fresh on site in our kitchen workshop and then frozen. They can store up to 6-12 months in freezer. Do not refreeze after defrost. Please ensure all items are well cooked before serving.

Please be advised that our food is prepared in kitchen workshop which may contain these ingredients: peanuts, wheat, soy, egg, sesame, milk, fish and shellfish.  

Here are our cooking tips for dim sum and other yum cha dishes.

>> Premium Dim Sum

  • Remove frozen products from freezer and thaw for a few minutes
  • Line your steamer with baking paper so dumplings don’t stick
  • Place dim sum in steamer. Do leave some space between the dim sum so they don’t stick together and allow them to cook properly.
  • Steam for 10-15 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Remove and serve hot.

Recommended steam times

  • Beef/Chicken/Pork/Seafood 10-15 minutes
  • Vegetables 5-7 minutes

>> Steam Buns

  • Remove frozen products from freezer
  • Place buns in steamer.
  • Steam for 10-15 minutes or until warm through.
  • Remove and serve hot.

>> Sui Gao / Wontons

  • Bring a large pot of water to boil
  • Add dumplings into boiling water
  • Boil for about 3-5 minutes. Cooked dumplings will float to the top.
  • Scoop out and serve with favourite dipping sauce or add to soup.

>> Pan Fried Gyoza

  • Remove frozen products from freezer and thaw for a few minutes
  • Heat non-stick fry pan over medium to high heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • Place dumplings bottom down into pan and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add 1/2 cup of water and quickly cover pan with lid, leaving for 6 – 7 minutes or until water has evaporated.
  • Turn the heat off and let stand for 1 minute before removing lid.
  • Remove gyozas and serve with soy dipping sauce.

>> Deep Fried Items

  • Remove frozen products from freezer and defrost
  • Heat up oil to 180c
  • Gently slide products into oil. Fry a few at a time and try not to overcrowd.
  • Keep moving them around and fry until golden brown and they floating at the top of the oil.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towel or wire rack.
  • Serve warm.

>> Pastries

  • Remove frozen products from freezer
  • Preheat oven 180c
  • Line baking tray with baking paper
  • Place pastries on tray and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
